Fashion Brand Zara’s Logo Update
ZARA are a fashion retailer that began trading in 1975 and has since then grown into a successful and popular fashion brand. The company started as a small store in the heart of Spain, founded by Amancio Ortega and is now known as a globally successful fashion brand which designs high fashion clothes with an affordable price tag.

ZARA’s Logo Update
It is not uncommon for luxury retailers and fashion brands to update their logo or branding. January 2019 saw Spanish fashion retailer ZARA update their logo for the second time since the founding of the company in 1975. The fashion brand have ditched their famous spaced out lettering in exchange for an overlapping look.

This is not the first time the company have updated their logo, the first changes since 1975 were in 2010, however, they were more subtle then their 2019 update.
Many other luxury retailers are opting for logo that are simplistic in style, however, ZARA have gone in the opposite direction. Not only are their letters now overlapping, the Z and the R both have curvy legs, which adds more depth to the logo overall. The logo was designed by advertising agency, Baron & Baron, which is is run by French editor Fabien Baron. Baron is well known for his work for Harper’s Bazaar, Interview Magazine as well as working with Madonna on her 1992 Sex book.
The reason this logo has received a vast amount of attention is that critics on social media are pointing the similarities between ZARA’s new logo and the font for Harper’s Bazaar magazine that was popular in the 1990’s.
